Call Of Duty Returning To World War II?
So who remembers when Call Of Duty was a PC only World War II shooter? Well if reports are to be believed, it’s possible that the popular shooter could be making a return to its origins.
In a recent interview with IGN, Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg said it was “certainly possible” when questioned about the possibility of a World War II shooter making a comeback. I remember playing the first Call Of Duty back when I was a big into PC gaming. I remember thinking how much better this game was then any other WWII shooter that I had play previously. If they returned to this setting I would consider it, but I would still want a greater emphasis on single-player. While the setting change is a possibility, sadly I can’t say the same about the single-player dream.
While we are talking about PC gaming I suppose we should address the dark cloud currently over the community. Yesterday’s release of Batman: Arkham Knight was supposed to be a joyous occasion for all. Unfortunately, for PC gamers, the experience is anything but, due to frequent stuttering and audio glitches when moving around the world. Rocksteady has tried to distant themselves a little from the issues by confirming that it was another studio that did the PC port, but they did add they are looking to find a solution asap. Not so much a PC master race after all, guess they will have to play the game on the mighty PS4! All joking aside, this is extremely disappointing to hear as the studio must have known the state of the game when it shipped. I really hate this release now fix later mentality that has appeared in the gaming industry over the past couple of years.
Let’s lighten the mood, ReCore is a game that is coming to Xbox One in early 2016. While we saw the announcement trailer at E3, we didn’t know much about Keiji Inafune’s new game, until now. Microsoft has today released a video interview where we find out certain details about the characters, story, and the world it’s all set in. The main character’s name is Jewel, and she is joined on her journey by her robot buddy called Mack. Mack — who starts off as a dog — is part of a faction that wants to restore humanity to the planet. There is another faction of robots who want to prevent this from happening! I’m very intrigued by this game, but will wait to see some gameplay action before I get too excited. For now, here is the interview:
Staying with Microsoft and we have another new console bundle on the way. This time it is a Forza Motorsport 6 bundle and it will be available in September to coincide with the release of the game and the 10-year anniversary of the series. It will come with the 1TB hard drive and will retail for $400. There is no details on a European release but it better be coming as that blue looks gorgeous! I have not bought a special edition console before, but I’m very tempted in this instance. At the very least I want the controller!
Moving onto some Nintendo news, and finally something positive for their supports. Splatoon has sold over 1 million copies in its first month of release. For a console that has shifted less than 10 million units this is a pretty impressive milestone fore Splatoon to reach. I must admit that the game does look fun, but as I don’t own a Wii U I don’t know if/when I’ll get the chance to experience it first hand.
I’m just going to leave this here to end the week. Twitch steamer Thorlan has created what he believes is the biggest ever pixel art image in Minecraft. Totalling in at 1,128,960 blocks, and taking 23 weeks to complete, it is safe to say that the commitment is impressive. The only thing more impressive, is the end result! Make sure you check it out, it is truly incredible.
