Play Star Wars Battlefront Early

That weekend went far too fast! I hope you all had a good one, but it’s now time to see what news broke over the past few days and the big story that stands out was details of a Star Wars Battlefront alpha.

EA are currently accepting applications for the upcoming alpha here. This round of testing is currently only available to PC players ands is done via a gamer’s Origin account. This opportunity is limited in its capacity, but I am a big fan of closed alphas and betas. They provide us gamers with an opportunity to get a feel for the game, and it provides the developers with vital feedback from the community and also allows them to stress test servers.

Staying with testing, The Division also now has a beta that you can sign-up for. If you already have a code then you are able to redeem it here, or you can pre-order the game to guarantee yourself access. Remember, as part of Xbox’s E3 press conference, the Beta is coming first to Xbox One later this year. I am very intrigued by the concept of this game, I just hope that there is a single player element. It is well documented now that I’m not one for playing with others, so there needs to be a solo experience for me to enjoy.

I take it by now that most of you have seen the awesome Pip Boy collectors edition of Fallout 4. Well, if you were lucky enough to pre-order yourself a copy before they sold out, a word of warning about the size of your phone. It appears that your regular iPhone 5(s) & 6 and Samsung Galaxy 4 & 5 will fit no problem. However anything bigger, such as the iPhone 6+ will be too big for the casing. The reason stated for this was that Bethesda wanted to “stay faithful to the dimensions of the in-game model”. If anyone is in this situation, then please feel free to let me know as I’ll happily purchase it off you. I’m not normally one for collector editions but thought this looked awesome! I was very disappointed that it sold out before I had a chance to grab one.

I think its safe to say that Pokemon is a fairly popular franchise in the gaming industry. Well Pokemon Shuffle is the latest game that will be making its way to mobile platforms later this year. From watching the trailer, which you can see below, it appears that this particular Pokemon game grab inspiration from other mobile games such as Bejewelled and Candy Crush. Suffice to say, this is not one for you Pokemon fans out there, and one I will most likely stay away from. It will be interesting to see if this is the kind of games that Nintendo plan to make as they dive into mobile games. I’m hoping we will get something more……

Finally for today, if there are any other hockey fans out there you will know that we get a new cover star for each year’s entry into the NHL franchise. Well, the cover star or rather stars this year is the dynamic duo of Patrick Kane & Jonathan Toews — fresh off their Stanley Cup win. The duo works in tandems with NHL 16‘s tagline: “Play together. Win together.” This is in reference to the return of one of the game’s most popular modes: EASHL. I don’t really have much to add to this, other than I can’t really be happy that a division rival team won the Stanley Cup! I feel my Avs had a solid draft this weekend, so here is hoping for a better season this time around.

That is it for today, but I promise to start getting up early again to write for you all.
