Which Console Is Winning In Europe?
Morning everyone! So speaking at E3 earlier this month it appears that Sony Europe President Jim Ryan has given some insight into how well their PS4 console is doing.
Speaking to VG247, Ryan indicated that the PS4 has at least 70% market share in all European countries, with some countries even peaking as high as 90%! I think it is pretty well known that Sony is currently leading the console race. Microsoft are still suffering from their initial reveal event, but I have to give them credit for continuing to improve their console with monthly updates. Using VGChartz as a source, it would appear that global sales on PS4 stand at 22.7 million, whereas Xbox One is at 12.6million. I think Xbox One will cut this deficit over the next 6 months due to their greater first party lineup this holiday season.
Speaking of Microsoft, details of their upcoming press conference at Gamescom has been announced. It will be taking place at 3pm (BST) on Tuesday 4th August. Phil Spencer has already revealed that such games as Quantum Break, Crackdown and Scalebound will be there, but I’m sure we will get some more surprises too! All three of these games were not included at E3 due to their jam-packed lineup. I think this speak volumes for where both companies are at right now. Sony had to double-down on third party games at their E3 conference, whereas Xbox had so many they couldn’t show them all!
So who is a fan of Assassin’s Creed? Well the franchise’s visionary and creator, Patrice Desilets, has shared some new details for his latest project, Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey. The game is currently in development as his new studio, Panache Digital Games, where we already knew that it would be an episodic action game. Speaking to Kotaku, Desilets described the third-person game as “Civilization tech tree meets Assassin’s Creed.” We will get to relive how humankind “took control of this planet and is totally destroying it”. The target is a 25-hour experience where we are taken through the entire evolution journey of humans. I think this sounds very ambitious, but the guy is clearly very into his history. I think this game will also able to history enthusiasts, but it will all come down to how enjoyable the experience is to actually play. Here is the E3 teaser:
Moving on, Shovel Knight is one of my favourite games in 2015. Ok yes I know technically is was a 2014 release, but as a PS4/Xbox One owner this was my first opportunity to play it. If you have not yet checked out Yacht Club Games‘ retro-inspired platformer, you will now have the opportunity to pick up the physical version when it releases on October 16th. The game will come with all the updates that have come to the digital version, as well as an instruction manual. Whether its physical or digital I don’t care, but you need to make sure you play this game. It really is that good!
Closing out today’s news and Jackbox Games has a brand new game for us called Quiplash. This is the latest entry in a line of party games, and is described as the “say anything” party game. Think of it as Cards For Humanity the video game. You are given a small prompt and then you say whatever you want. While it is up to 8 core players, you can have 10,000 people participating to vote which answer is the best! 10,000 seems a huge number, but demonstrates that this game has been designed for streaming. It sounds like it could be a fun party game, as do a few in Jackbox Games’ library. Here is the trailer:
That’s it for today, hope you all have a good one.
