PlayStation Network Issues Once Again!

So yesterday evening I was looking forward to checking out Rocket League — until I found out that I couldn’t connect to the PlayStation Network.

Yes the PlayStation Network has been experiencing various issues over the past 24 hours, not for the first time. Let’s be honest, by now most of us probably have the PSN status page in our favourites. I am pleased to report that Sony has since rectified the problem, so you can all enjoy your online gaming today, but this is something that happens way too often. When you look at how stable Xbox Live is by comparison, you can understand why some gamers feel agitated, especially as they now need to pay to play online. Hopefully Sony can find long term solution, before it becomes an even bigger problem. Yes they have the market share now, but we saw from the last generation that a lead can be eradicated.

Let’s stay with Sony, and a new limited edition PS4 has been revealed to celebrate to launch of Destiny: The Taken King. The console, which will release on 15th September, is disappointingly only a 500gb model but at least you get a physical copy of the game. It seems to me that we are getting a lot of these limited edition consoles this year. Saying that, if you have been thinking about getting a PS4, and like shooters, then this version is quite nice. Talking of Destiny, Bungie has revealed that the most dedicated of players will be able get a special reward. An exclusive emblem can be obtained by completing 10 challenges. The ‘Moments of Triumph’, which are listed on Bungie’s site, must be completed by 9th September. I didn’t get hooked by Destiny personally so I will not be completing these. However, I know many people who have put hundreds, if not thousands, of hours into the game so I’m sure they will love this!

E3 has come and gone, but it is now time to reveal which game took home the coveted ‘Best Of Show’ title from the Game Critic Awards. 38 Media outlets cast their votes, and the lucky winner this year was Fallout 4. Bethesda‘s upcoming open-world RPG is a game I’m very much excited for, and I think millions of gamers are! It is a deserved winner in my opinion. You can check out the full list of winners here.

Who’s ready for a new Rayman game? Well Ubisoft has announced that Rayman Adventures is in development…..for smartphones and tablets. The upcoming mobile game, will be available later this year. So a mobile game may not be what a lot of gamers will want, but the saving grace is that apparently the previous Rayman games have actually been pretty decent. The only “mobile” games I’ll be playing are on my Vita!

Closing out the news for today, and fans of The Escapists and The Walking Dead are in for some good news, as Team 17 has revealed that they are working on a licensed spin off. The Escapists: The Walking Dead follows a very similar premise to The Escapists, but this time you take on the role of Rick Grimes, who must recuse other recognisable characters by helping them escape zombie invested areas. I liked the idea of The Escapists, but never got the chance to play it. Maybe this will be a title I can pick up later on in the year. Here is the trailer:

That’s it for today, I’ll be back again tomorrow to bring you a ehole new day of news.
