Everyone Loves Dinosaurs!

Another late one, I need more hours in the day! A few interesting stories have caught my eye in the lead-up to Comic Con and first is the success of Ark: Survival Evolved.

The open-word adventure, featuring dinosaurs, has already sold in excess of 1 million copies, despite the fact that it is still in Steam Early Access. These are impressive sales figures for any game inside its first month, let alone a game that it still in its testing phase. The every evolving world of Ark: Survival Evolved does really intrigue me, unfortunately I don’t own a gaming PC. Guess I’ll have to wait a little longer before I can ride that dinosaur!

Make sure you mark August 28th in your diary Disney fans, the release date of Disney Infinity 3.0 has been confirmed. The latest version in the “toys to life” series is all centred around Star Wars, and the starer pack will include figures of Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker. These games are great cash cows for companies and I believe they are the way kids will experience toys/action figures now, and in the future. That being said I have no interest in them, not even from a collection point of view.

So, Horizon: Zero Dawn looked like a press impressive game at E3 last month. Well, in a recent interview with GamesRadar, Guerrilla Games‘ art director, Jan Bart Van Beek, has revealed that “the core of the game is a single player experience”. This is music to my single playing ears! I don’t mind games having some multiplayer elements, but all within reason. For those who do like multiplayer, we did find out that “there are certain social features in there”. I’m excited to find out more about Horizon: Zero Dawn over the next year.

Saying Call Of Duty is popular is probably a bit of an understatement. With that in mind, I’m sure a lot of you will be excited to learn that the Call Of Duty: Black Ops III beta will begin August 19th on PS4. We’ve talked before about the benefits of betas, and this will be no different. Fear not Xbox One and PC players, the beta is also planned to come to your respective platforms too.

Unless you are a new reader, you will know that I am a big racing fan. As such, it will come as little surprise to hear that I am a big fan of CodemastersDiRT racing series. Codemasters has today announced a “long-term” partnership with the FIA, to bring the FIA World Rallycross Championship to their Dirt Rally PC game. Licensing is an important, but element to racing games. I would love to see a return to the DiRT series on consoles!

Closing out today’s news and we have been provided with a peek of what is in the Just Cause 3 Collector’s Edition. The main feature, which was actually voted by vans, is a 15-inch display version of Rico’s famous grappling hook. In addition to the game, players will also a weaponised vehicle pack, a 24 inch poster of Medici, and hardcover art book. Collector’s editions are a common trait now, and I must admit I’m tempted by this one as the hook is pretty cool. Either way, I’ll be playing Just Cause 3 when is releases on December 1st.

Enjoy what is left of today, and I’ll be back earlier tomorrow.
