Shenmue 3 Is A Record Breaker
After a nice long weekend of playing Batman: Arkham Knight (now 93% overall) it is back to work :-(. It was a pretty slow weekend news wise but a couple of interesting items, starting with Shenmue 3‘s Kickstarter.
By now most people are aware that Shenmue 3 was announced during Sony‘s E3 press conference, but the success of the kickstarter is quite incredible. Not only was it the fastest game to raise, $1,000,000, it has finally closed on a record-breaking $6,333,296! I still don’t agree with Sony backing a game but then also kickstarting it. Kickstarter should be for indie studios that are unable to raise capital any other way. But hey, I guess nearly 70,000 people disagree with me.
Let’s talk more Batman: Arkham Knight on the PC. We all know how broken this game is by now, but it appears that PC gamers now have a fix on the horizon as Warner Bros. has announced that an “interim” fix will be coming in August. This follow a recent alleged report that the game would not receive a full fix until September. I have shared my thoughts on this already, but let’s just add that this continues to be a disappointment for PC gamers.
Next up, some good news for collectors out there. The Halo 5: Guardians Collector’s Edition was initially criticised for costing £200 and not even coming with a physical copy of the game. Luckily that has now changed as 343 Industries has confirmed that you will be able to trade in your digital code for the disc. I’m so glad that 343 has listened to the community on this one. As a collector I do enjoy having the discs and the digital code would have definitely been a decisive factor. Now I just need to decide if I can justify the high price…..
Fallout 4 is another game we have to look forward to later on this year, and I’m definitely excited that for the first time our playable character will be voiced. In a recent interview with the Telegraph, it has been revealed that voice actors Courtenay Taylor and Brian T. Delaney have spent two years recording over 13,000 lines of dialogue. I don’t really have a gauge on number of lines, but 13,000 does sound like an awful lot! I think it is safe to say that the voice acting does not restrict the amount of interactions we will encounter within the game and the different choices we make.
I have talked about racing games DLC in my last few entries, so let’s keep that theme going with details of Driveclub‘s latest expansion pack. The “Horsepower Expansion” pack has some stunningly fast and beautiful cars — the Ferrari LaFerrari FXX K and the Nissan GT-R NISMO just to name two. Drivclub is a great racing game and probably the best option for racing fans on the PS4 right now. I don’t generally buy car packs — I find them expensive for what they are — but there will always be an odd exception.
Let’s close with a quick teaser from Disney, and it appears that Marvel’s Ant-Man might be making an appearance in Disney Infinity 3.0. While there is no official confirmation, the image below gives us a pretty good indication of what Disney are referring to.
That’s it for today, see you again tomorrow.
