Is EA Access Coming To PS4?
Hey everyone! Yes we are back with the morning posts and hopefully this will be the norm going forward. Anyway, we shall kick off the week with some news on EA Access.
In a recent interview with Gamespot, Peter Moore revealed that it “doesn’t matter” if he wants to see EA Access on PS4, as it is currently an Xbox One platform. When pushed for further clarification he refers to Sony‘s earlier stance on the subscription service by saying “Sony talked about it, ask them.” For those who don’t remember, Sony indicated that the service wouldn’t come to PS4 as it didn’t represent “good value to the PlayStation gamer.” As someone who adopted the service early on, I have to say that I believe the service continues to represent good value and will only get better as the catalogue of Vault games expands.
Next up today, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 is only a month from release, and a big part of the Pro Skater franchise has always been the soundtrack. If you were dying to find out which songs made the cut then worry no more as the full tracklist has been revealed. Ok so maybe I’m getting old now, or maybe I am just not as in touch with music as I once was, but I barely recognise a handful of these tracks. Having listened through the majority of them briefly I have to say that I don’t see this tracklist living up to the heights of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 — the best soundtrack in the series bar none.
Talking of games coming in September, we have a new trailer for Blood Bowl 2 — the crazy turn-based football game set in a Warhammer universe. Ok so I never thought that the turn-based strategy genre would ever crossover with a sports game but the first Blood Bowl was obviously successful enough to warrant a sequel. The trailer does make the game look fun, but I doubt I will every play it — I barely have enough time for normal sports games this year, let alone spinoffs.
Over the past few weeks we have looked at several limited edition consoles coinciding with the release of certain games. Well it is time for another one as Star Wars Battlefront has got itself a limited edition PS4 console. I personally don’t care too much for the console itself — even though it looks cool it is only a 500GB version — but that controller looks sick! Hopefully they will sell the controller separately, as I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on it! If people want to be swayed by it, it does come with the Deluxe Edition of the game, and hard drives are easily upgradable.
Just so Xbox doesn’t feel too left out in today’s news, I will quickly cover the fact that Quantum Break has revealed its new box art. The cover now showcases lead protaginist Jack Joyce — played by Shawn Ashmore — as front and centre on a minimalist cover. Even in an age of increasing digital content, I still think that box art is important for a game and I like the simple nature of what Quantum Break has gone for. More importantly, I can’t wait to play the game next year!
Closing out today’s news and Sony has revealed that PlayStation Experience is returning this December. The two day event will take place 5-6 December in San Francisco. Full details of the event can be found on the PS Blog, and you are able to register for tickets now. Sony has also hinted strongly that, for reasons not yet known, you should register your PSN IDs. Man I’d love to go to this event, especially after seeing/hearing how good the event was last year. Unfortunately I can’t justify spending £2,000 on a two day event — the downside to living this side of the pond. Time to start saving for next year.
That’s all she wrote for this morning, have a good one.
