Jimmy Kimmel Is Talking Rubbish

So the four day weekend is finally here and in the midst of this week’s YouTube Gaming launch, it appears that Jimmy Kimmel has decided to share his own two cents.

The American TV host took to his late night show to say that watching other people play video games doesn’t make sense.

“To me, watching another person play video games is like going to a restaurant and having someone eat your food for you,”

“If you like them, play them.”

Kimmel has royally fucked up here. It just screams ignorance on a form of media entertainment he is obviously too “old” to appreciate. He uses the restaurant analogy to try and strengthen his argument, but let me give you a couple of others: ‘I already know how to play football so I should never bother watching a game’; or ‘I know how to play a musical instrument so I shouldn’t bother listening to other people playing them.’ It would appear I am not alone in this thinking, based on the number of dislikes on his sketch video. People need to realise that the video game industry is continuing to grow and is not far behind hollywood films in becoming the number one media entertainment industry.

Anyway, that’s enough negativity for today, let us focus on some positive gaming news. First up let’s have a look at the awesome Fallout 4 Xbox One console that Bethesda are giving away! The Pip Boy console, which can be seen below, will be going to one lucky gamer in the coming weeks. In order to enter all you have to do is follow the official Fallout Twitter account and retweet the competition tweet prior to the 2AM on Tuesday 1st September. I WANT this console!

Following the successful Kickstarter of Mighty No. 9, backers will be able to get their hands on a demo next month. Keiji Inafune confirmed at PAX today that backers will be getting PC codes starting September 15th. It is nice to finally here some positive news after Mega Man‘s spiritual successor was delayed to 2016 last month. For those who didn’t back Mighty No. 9, or do not have a PC, the Mega Man Legacy Collection came to PS4 and Xbox One this week, so there is plenty of Inafune 2D platforming available to gamers right now.

Some Nintendo news to round out your week and the supersonic racer Fast Racing NEO will be getting both online and offline competitive multiplayer racing. If you were a fan of either the F-Zero or Wipeout series of yesteryear, then Fast Racing NEO is something that should be right up your street. The trailer below makes it look like an extremly fun (and fast) racing game, and it is coming to Wii U later this year. Again, another game on Nintendo’s console that I wouldn’t mind playing. The case to buy one gets stronger every week.

Closing out and there are a lot of big games available this week. Full list is as follows:

What a crazy week for video games and it is only going to get busier. I want to play 6 out of the top 7 on this list (not interested in Disney Infinity 3.0) and I have 5 days until The Phantom Pain

Have a good weekend.
