Here Comes The Phantom Pain!

I’m back after our extended weekend and today it a great day! No it’s not because of Transfer Deadline Day (I’m an Arsenal fan after all) but today is the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain!

Yes my most anticipated game of the year is finally here, except its not…my copy has not arrived yet. The silver lining I guess is that I wouldn’t have had time to play today, as you may have already established from the lateness of my blog today. Anyway, in Metal Gear news, the limited edition PS4 console has a spelling error on it. Some may forgive a typo on the word “molybdenum” but the missing “n” is still a sloppy error on the production side. I personally wouldn’t care too much for it, and still think that it is a pretty cool PS4 to own.

Staying with PS4 and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End now has an official release date. On a post on the PlayStation blog it was confirmed that Nate’s next (and possibly final) adventure will be coming March 18th, 2016. In addition to the release date, we got details of Special and Collector Editions. In addition to the game you will get such items as an art book or a 12″ statue of Nathan Drake. I will most definitely be picking up the Collector’s Edition when it comes next year. I’m so excited to go on another adventure with Nate, at least we have Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection to tie us over this year.

Staying with release dates, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided also has an official release date. Square Enix has confirmed that the stealth-action RPG will be coming on February 23, 2016. In addition to the release date we also got details of a Collection’s Edition, which includes a statue of Adam Jensen. Early 2016 is starting to shape up to be a busy time with Deus Ex, BattlebornMirror’s Edge: Catalyst, Uncharted 4, and Quantum Break. We already have the first clash though, Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst is also out on February 23rd.

2016 is still a few months away so let’s focus on something more immediate. EA has confirmed that Star Wars: Battlefront will be getting a beta in “early October.” Included in the beta will be the 40-player Walker Assault on Hoth mode and the newly revealed Drop Zone mode. Betas are now standard for multiplayer games in order to matchmaking is working and to ensure the servers can handle the load. Gamers will also be able to use this as an opportunity to see how EA’s multiplayer shooter will play.

Closing out the news and Microsoft has announced a new Xbox One Elite Bundle. The bundle comes with the Elite controller that was announced at E3, along with a 1TB Solid State Hybrid Drive. According to the Xbox Wire, the updated hard drive will allow for a boot up and game install speeds of 20% faster than the current drive. I think this is a much needed improvement as the current install speed is so slow when compared to the PS4. If anyone has yet to pick up an Xbox One, I’d recommend waiting for this bundle when it drops in November.

That’s it for today. I should hopefully be much earlier tomorrow.
