Naughty Dog Outs The Last Of Us 2?
Without doubt, The Last Of Us was a generation-defining game when it came into our lives in the summer of 2013. Is it possible that a sequel if on the cards?
Based on both its critical and commercial success, it would be surprising if we didn’t see The Last Of Us 2 but, up until now, there has been zero confirmation. However, Naughty Dog may have let slip – not for the first time — that a sequel is on the horizon. While talking about the animation of Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, on a recent Twitch stream, writer Josh Scherr states:
“all the facial animation in the Uncharted series was led up by Eric [Baldwin], here, and [on] the first The Last of Us. Uh, did I say the first The Last of Us?”
Based on the reaction by Scherr following this, it appears that he realised the mistake he had made. It makes sense that Naughty Dog would do another The Last Of Us game and, if they do, I can’t wait!
Staying on the Sony side of the news, and one item I omitted from yesterday’s TGS conference was the announcement of four more PS4 controllers. Those of you who like elitist colours are in luck as Sony are now offering both gold and silver controllers. We don’t yet have a price or release date for the controllers over here, but know they will be dropping in Japan on November 6. Japan are also getting steel black and crystal controllers, but these have not yet been confirmed for Europe. Personally, I don’t really like the gold or silver – give me my 20 anniversary controller any day!
Some more Need For Speed news for you racing fans – third time in three days. This is a rather strange thing to be news, but EA and Ghost Games have stated that there will not be any micro-transactions in the game, nor is there any plan for paid DLC. Instead, at this moment in time, there will be “a series of free content updates.” An EA game without these two things seems very strange to me, it is just not how they operate their business model anymore. However, if it is true, at least it gives gamers one less thing to moan about.
Keeping with the good spirit racing theme, Driveclub will be getting new Sprint mode trackers for free every week up until Christmas. First up will be Nilgiri Hills in India, and Taapaca in Chile, which are both available to download now. Evolution Studios also confirmed that the game will receive a “big” update next month. I’m glad to see that they are still supporting this game, which, launch issues aside, is a very solid racing game. I really hope Evolution Studios get another shot.
Closing out the news, and just when you thought there would only be one video game mini fridge to choose from this winter, Walmart saves the day with a Star Wars: Battlefront Bundle. The $130 bundle comes with the deluxe version of the game, and a Han Solo fridge, which does look very cool……I’ll see myself out. With this being a Walmart bundle, I won’t hold out much hope for it coming to the UK, but you never know.
That’s it for today.
