Play Star Wars Battlefront Early!

It is safe to say that Star Wars: Battlefront is one of the biggest games of the year, and here is how you can play it early!

Starting tomorrow (November 12th) EA Access members will be able to download the anticipated shooter and commence a 10 hour trial of the full game. This gives Xbox One owners a full week to experience the game before its November 19th release date. For our U.S. readers, up to 3,000 Walmart stores across America will let shoppers play the game in-store from November 13th-15th as part of an “Epic Weekend” promotion. I look forward to giving the game a go this weekend, I hope you all do the same.

Staying with Xbox One gamers and I’m sure many of your picked up Fallout 4 yesterday. Well, if you weren’t already aware, the Xbox One version of the game comes with a free download of Fallout 3, which will be playable on the Xbox One tomorrow thanks to backwards compatibility. Even if you don’t have an immediate urge to play Fallout 3, make sure you activate the download as the offer expires on February 8th. I would like to think that three months is plenty of time but I find it strange that there is an expiry date on this offer. I hope everyone is enjoying Fallout 4 as much as I am, Fallout 3 is every much as great an experience.

There are still plenty of exciting games to be released this year, and Just Cause 3 is one of them. The ambitious over-the-top action game launches on December 4th, and will be a single-player only experience. However, in an interview with with Gamespot, game director Roland Lesterlin revealed that multiplayer was a big consideration.

“We did talk about it a lot. The modding community even created a multiplayer mod for Just Cause 2 that was super fun, really cool. The same way that Just Cause 2 was known as a beautiful sandbox in a giant open world, and it surprised many people that consoles could even do that, we wanted to have that same experience… with updated physics and player mechanics, and concentrate first and foremost in the main player…”

“It doesn’t mean we wouldn’t think about what to do with multiplayer in the future, but for this first time around we wanted to pour all our love and energy into a great single-player sandbox to start with.”

I think that the large open world could lend itself to some sort of multiplayer — similar to the co-op in Far Cry 4 — but as a single-player gamer I’m happy to hear that this was the focus for Avalanche Studios. I can’t wait to play this game… it looks so fun!

October was a busy month for video games and Sony has revealed, via the PlayStation Blog, the top 5 selling for the PS4. The list is as follows:

  1. Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection
  2. Destiny: The Taken King
  3. FIFA 16
  4. Rocket League
  5. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate

There are not too many surprises with the top 3… Uncharted was always going to be a big seller, and The Taken King & FIFA 16 are ridiculously popular. The big surprise to me was seeing Rocket League chart at number 4, above the new Assassin’s Creed title. Rocket League was incredibly popular in the summer when it was part of PS Plus, it is nice to see that new gamers are still discovering the game.

Continuing the Rocket League conversation, and a free update is coming for Psyonix‘s vehicle soccer title. The update brings with it the introduction of “Mutators”, which will allows new game variances such as “low-gravity Moonball” and “Time Warp.” We can also expect to a new hockey mode called “Snow Day”, which launches next month. If anyone hasn’t played Rocket League yet, I highly recommend you go download it now… it is one of the most addictive games you will play this year.

Until tomorrow,
