Xbox One Has The Best Line-Up For 2016
As 2015 draws to a close we begin to turn our focus to 2016, and Microsoft seem pretty confident about their game line-up for next year…
At this week’s Credit Suisse Technology Conference, Microsoft marketing executive Yusuf Mehdi was talking up the company’s console for this holidays. “If you like to game, this is the year to get an Xbox,” Mehdi said. He also reminded people about the year ahead by stating that the Xbox One will have “the best line-up.” When we look at the exclusive games that should be coming next year — Gears Of War 4, Halo Wars 2, Scalebound, Crackdown 3, Sea Of Thieves, Quantum Break, Cuphead, and Inside — it is hard to disagree with him. Let’s also add Forza Horizon 3 to that list, while not yet announced it would continue the recent trend in the Forza franchise of alternating between Horizon and Motorsport. One thing is for certain, I can’t wait for next year!
Another man who might be happy about Mehdi’s comments is Tiger Woods! In a recent interview the former world number one golfer had been talking about his chances of returning to the course. Following his third back surgery in September that doesn’t seem anytime soon but Woods seem happy to be using that spare time to play video games!
“I am really good at playing video games, really good…I swear, that’s basically how I pass a lot of my time.”
I wonder what games Woods likes to play? I imagine he doesn’t support EA‘s golf game anymore after the publisher decided to replace him with new cover star Rory McIlroy!
Next up and we have Day 2 of Sony’s 12 Days Of Christmas PSN sale. For the next 48 hours (until 23:59 on Friday 4th December) gamers will be able to get 40% off Mad Max. Avalanche Studios‘ open-world action title puts gamers into the post-apocalyptic wasteland made famous from the 80’s film trilogy. This is not a game I have played but I hear mostly positive things, despite the mixed critical reception. Still, £29.99 is a decent price if you haven’t picked it up yet — considering it was released on the same day as Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, I’m sure many people missed out first time around.
Staying with the PS4 and Harmonix has announced details about their upcoming music rhythm title, Amplitude. The return of the PS2 cult-classic now has a release date of January 5th and will be available for £15.99. In addition to these details, Harmonix also revealed the full soundtrack for the game, which can be found on the PlayStation Blog. To be honest, this is not a title I ever played on the PS2 but I would like to understand the origins of the studio that brought us Guitar Hero and Rock Band so I may just pick this title up next month.
Final Fantasy XV is one of, if not, the most anticipated games for JRPG fans. Well, programmer Satoshi Kitade has finally provided us with a development update on the long-awaited game. Initially posted on the game’s forum, before translated by Gematsu, Kitade said:
“We’re at the point where we can play the game in its entirety from start to finish… From this, everyone on the development team can get an overall view on the game… The first half of the game is finished with the quality of a final product, and you get the sense you’re playing it in its final form”
I’m sure this is no doubt music to the ears of Final Fantasy fans. While we still don’t have a firm release for the game, this statement seems to reaffirm the game’s 2016 release on PS4 and Xbox One. Could we really get both Final Fantasy XV and The Last Guardian in 2016?! Who said miracles don’t happen…
