Matt Was Right! Hitman Now Episodic.
Yes that is right, despite Square Enix insisting that Hitman would be a full game — the reason they delayed it last year was to add additional content — it has now been confirmed that it will be “fully episodic.” The initial release date of March 11th will see the release of the prologue and first mission. For those looking forward to the missions in Italy and Monaco, they will now be coming in April and May respectively. It appears that you will be able to purchase the full product for the same price but we now have to rely on several monthly update. This is not a smart move from a PR perspective. If the game isn’t ready, just delay it! I for one won’t be giving Square Enix any money until everything has been released.
2015 was without doubt a great year for gaming and now we know which game and console was the best selling. It won’t come as much of a surprise to hear that Call Of Duty: Black Op III was the best selling game in 2015. In addition to this success, Activision revealed that the franchise has now sold 250 million units! Who would have thought that 12 years after a World War II shooter released on PC we would have a franchise like this?
There was also not surprise on the console side to learn that Sony‘s PS4 was the best selling console in 2015. It was announced recently that Sony had sold almost 36 million consoles since launch, including 5.7 million over the holiday period. This figure already makes the PS4 the eighth best selling home console in history, with the SNES next up at 49 million units. Due to the fact that it will likely have a shorter life cycle, I can’t see it topping the record-setting 155 million of PS2, but without doubt the PS4 has been a huge success to date. Let’s hope Microsoft can keep in touch.
Talking of the Xbox One, Gold members will be getting a special reward next week. All Gold member will be able to play every game in the EA Access program for free all of next week. Starting January 19th, all 14 games in the vault will be available, which include the likes of Plants vs Zombies, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Titanfall, and Madden 15. This is a great opportunity for gamers to see exactly how good value EA Access is. Remember there are some game trials coming up soon, so after next week would be the perfect time to sign up!
What kid hasn’t dreamed of being able to play video games for a living? Well a school in Norway is now allowing kids to take a class on eSports, which will include the likes of Dota 2, League of Legends, and Counter Strike. ESports are defintely on the rise in popularity, with a recent report that ESPN will be launching a dedicated section on their site to professional gaming. I can’t help but feel a little jealous — the most exciting game I got to play in school was this bad boy:
Have a good weekend all!
