Bethesda Confirms E3 2016 Appearance
It may still be more than four months away but that hasn’t stopped Bethesda from announcing its E3 2016 plans.
2015 marked the first year that Bethesda had held a press conference at the premier gaming convention, and it was such a success that they have decided to do it all over again. The Fallout and Elder Scrolls publisher announced that its E3 2016 conference will be held in the early hours of Monday 13th June. While Bethesda didn’t reveal any specifics about the upcoming event, the below image does appear to show references to both the Fallout and Elder Scrolls franchises, among others. I’m really intruiged to find out what they show, especially as Fallout 4 took up a big portion of last year’s briefing. You have to think some Fallout 4 DLC may be announced along with another showing of Dishonored 2. We might even find out about the next Elder Scrolls game!
Today marks the arrival of February’s PlayStation Plus offerings on the PSN, but now we already have some details regarding March’s lineup. Similar to feature Sony ran last year, members will get to vote which title they would like to receive next month. The voting will commence later this month, and we will all have the choice between three PS4 games:
- Action Henk — a side-scrolling racing game where you race past-their-prime action figures
- Assault Android Cactus — a twin-stick shooter set in a vivid sci-fi universe.
- Broforce — a side-scrolling shooter, which also happens to have the best title ever!
I will have a look at the games a little closer but my first inclining is to go for Action Henk. I do love myself a twin-stick shooter but I already have Housemarque for that! Action Henk just seems to offer something a bit different and, more importantly, it looks fun! I’m glad Sony has brought this option back, I was initially under the impression that it would be a regular occurrence.
We may not be getting a AAA Assassin’s Creed this year but that doesn’t mean we won’t be getting any titles in the franchise. In addition to the Chronicles titles that are available, Ubisoft has now announced a mobile game called Assassin’s Creed Identity. Expected to release this month, Identity is billed as an action-RPG for mobile devices, where you creat and customise your assassin before sending him into battle. It will be interesting to see what calibre of game this is, but whenever i hear a game will have “virtual analogue sticks,” I’m worried. Here is hoping Ubisoft can draw some inspiration from Square Enix, who has released the fantastic mobile games, Hitman Go and Lara Croft Go.
Next up, and the time-bending FPS, Superhot is finally getting a release after more than two years in development. A successful project on Kickstarter back in 2014, Superhot offers a unique twist to traditional FPS gameplay but the fact that time only moves when the player does! This mechanic gives the game a strategy/puzzle element not found in many FPS games today. With no health regeneration and limited ammo I am very intrigued by this title. Superhot will initially launch on PC on February 25th, and the Xbox One version will follow just a few weeks later. Until then, you can check out the trailer below:
