DOOM Release Date Has Been Confirmed!
The reboot of the iconic DOOM franchise finally has a release date, and the game will be arriving this May!
iD Software‘s long-awaited first person shooter will be coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC on May 13th. For those of you who don’t can’t wait that long then fear not, a beta will be coming prior to the game’s launch. In addition to announcing the release date, Bethesda has also announced a DOOM collector’s edition, which comes with a 12″ statue of The Revenant — one of the game’s demons. The original DOOM is without doubt one of the most important games in history, I’m interested to see how this one turns out but I don’t think it will be a day one purchase.
Mirrors Edge: Catalyst is another game coming in May this year and in the build up to its release EA has announced an upcoming beta. To sign up for the beta on either Xbox One, PS4 or PC you will have register your interest on the official website. There is no date for the closed beta yet but you would imagine it will come sometime in April. In addition to the beta announcement EA also released a new trailer for the game, which you can see below. The trailer reveals some details about lead protagonist Faith, including that she is recently out of prison. On her release, Faith gets caught up with Gabriel Kruger and the Conglomerate, the oppressive group that keeps control over the city of Glass. Another game that I’m excited to check out but am remaining cautiously optimistic. I’m hopeful that Catalyst will build on the original title, that did still have some problems.
Uncharted 4 is only a couple months away and Sony has announced a PS4 bundle for Naughty Dog‘s latest adventure. The bundle will launch alongside the game’s release and sports a “gray blue” finish and a silhouette image of adventurer Nathan Drake. The Dualshock 4 will also come in the same “gray blue” colour. The console will have Uncharted branded on it in gold, and the Latin phrase “Sic parvis magna,” which is same writing on Drake’s ring and means “greatness from small beginnings.” As special edition consoles go, I do like the colour scheme here. I already have my PS4 though so I won’t be purchasing it.
It is time to share with you today’s PSA: Unravel is now available on EA Access. Yes, the adorable little character known as Yarny is now playable for up to 10 hours, but only the first two levels. Having already played half an hour or so, my first impression was that Coldwood Interactive has made a beautiful game. It isn’t just the visuals though, the game does seem fun so far. We will be bringing you a Let’s Play on Tuesday, so be sure to look out for it.
GTA V on PC is well known for its strong mod community, and this latest may just be the best yet! As you can see from the video below, this mod turns the lively Los Santos into a post-apocolyptic world aching to Naughty Dog’s The Last Of Us. While the streets are overgrown and the cars are destroyed, it should be noted that there aren’t actually any clickers running around just yet. Mods are definitely one of the main things that I feel us console gamers miss out on, the PC community are a talented bunch of individuals.
Closing out today, here are the latest game releases:
