Microsoft Wants Cross-Play With PS4
In a recent announcement it appears that Microsoft has opened the door for cross-platform play between Xbox One and PS4!
Microsoft has announced that they want to support cross-platform play between the Xbox One, Windows 10 and “other multiplayer networks.” While there is no direct mention of cross-platform with Sony’s console, one can reasonably assume that they are talking about the PSN. This is a feature that gamers have been calling out for for a long time now, and is definitely something that I would like to see. Chris Charla — director of ID@Xbox — has said that “it’s up to game developers to support this feature” so it will be interesting to see how this one develops. I’m looking forward to cross-play on Quantum Break when it launches next month!
Fullbright — the studio behind Gone Home — has announced that their upcoming game Tacoma has been delayed until 2017. In announcing the decision to delay the game to Spring 2017, the developer said:
“This isn’t a last minute ‘we just need a little more time!’ thing, but more of a ‘we need to be responsible about giving the game more space to live up to its potential’ kind of thing.”
I know this will be a big disappointment for some people but I’m at the stage where game delays no longer bother me. This big delay indicates that there were some fundamental problems with the game, and it is best that Fullbright has the time to try and fix them.
Following the previous announcement regarding the Fallout 4 DLC, Bethesda has now release a new trailer with additional details on the first DLC pack, Automatron. The DLC will focus on the Mechanist, a character that has unleashed a horde of robots into the commonwealth. Automatron will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC from March 22nd and will cost £8. If you previously purchased the season pass then this will be included.
I won’t be playing Fallout 4’s latest DLC as I’m still very much invested in The Division. It appears I’m not alone as Ubisoft’s third-person shooter generated more than $330 million worldwide in its first five days: a new record for a Ubisoft title. It also took the crown from Destiny as the best new franchise, with Activision’s FPS “only” making $325 million over its first five days. The Division is a great game that everyone should check out. While it may have some fundamental flaws, it is a lot of fun to play! You have be warned: it is highly addictive!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan is one of the few games this year that I hope will surprise me. I loved Turtles as a kid and have been waiting forever for a decent TMNT game. Platinum Games has now confirmed that Mutants In Manhattan will release for PS4, Xbox One and PC on May 24th. In addition to the release date, it was confirmed that the action game will feature four-player co-op. While we wait for the game to drop, we at least have the new gameplay trailer, which you can see below.
